The drift is defined as a technique of hasty passage through varied atmospheres. The concept of drifting is inextricably linked to the recognition of psychogeographical effects and the affirmation of playful-constructive behavior, which contrasts, in all respects, with the classical notions of travel and strolling.
— Guy Debord, Theory of the Drift

Sound Ambiances, Domestic Recordings & Audio Tourism is a recording project that i initiated and coordinated, and whose three stages have been released as mini-CDs on Universinternational. Each volume involves gathering sound contributions (field recordings, found sounds, audio documents) and arranging them, with no alteration allowed.

A collection of raw recordings, therefore, not necessarily from specialists, produced with highly variable intentions, materials, or points of view. The result is a concrete drift where music is born from the juxtaposition of disparate elements and materials. A collective project in which the authors fade into the background behind the multiple entrances and numerous paths, anecdotes, travel memories, or sonic curiosities...

Volume 1, mixed by myself, was released in 2003 with my contributions from Guillaume Beauron, Arnaud Billet, Jonathan Larabie, Thierry Monnier, Juliet Quinn, Anne-Julie Rollet, and Mathieu Werchowski. Volume 2, mixed by Dominique Dereymez in 2005, with his contributions from Arnaud Billet, Manolie Soysouvanh, Jean-Marcel Busson, Juliet Quinn, and Pali Meursault. Volume 3, mixed by David Bouvard in 2013, with contributions from himself and Philip Halke, Maksims Shentelevs, Ici-Même, Cédric Anglaret, Guillaume Beauron, Philippe Faujas, and Pali Meursault.
