Surround was a sound environment made up of salvaged record players and electricity. Each record player was used as a turntable, topped with a bracket. Copper wires provided contact via the turntable's arm and ran along the bracket to strike metal sticks arranged in groups of eight or ten around the turntables, each connected to a speaker.

Each time the device struck a stick, a speaker received a 12-volt current and produced an electrical click. The aim was to reveal the sonic space using a completely raw sound that transformed according to the specific resonances of each part of the space.

This installation was created during a carte blanche from the 102 in Grenoble and slowly self-destructed over the course of three months.
