Radio Glaces
radio project with Thomas Tilly - 2020-2021
During the summer of 2020, Thomas Tilly and i have immersed our microphones, hydrophones, and seismic sensors deep in crevasses, glacial torrents, and moraine folds to listen to their sound vibrations.
These extraordinary sounds are intertwined with testimonies collected from those familiar with the ice fields: glaciologists, geomorphologists, mountain guides, mountaineers, refuge wardens, and ski resort operators, who share their experiences of the sites and provide keys to understanding the current transformations of the landscape, linked to global warming and glacier retreat.
The collection of sound creations, freely accessible for streaming and downloading on the (french-speaking) project website, brings together 14 thematic episodes and explores 10 locations in Grenoble and Oisans through 18 testimonials.
Radio Glaces was produced by Bonding Elastic and funded by the Département de l'Isère; the website was created with Nicolas Montgermont.
